PATCH TESTING

Thank you for choosing Apothecary Beauty Clinic to perform your permanent cosmetics procedure. We look forward to meeting you at your appointment.

If any of the below apply to you, please make me aware immediately.

  • Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?

  • Do you suffer from any illnesses?

  • Do you take medications?

  • Do you have any known allergies?

  • Do you have any skin conditions?

  • Do you suffer from problematic scarring?

The next stage pf assessing your suitability for the treatment is to perform a patch test, this patch test needs to be administered as soon as it is received and no less than 48 hours prior to your treatment date. If you do not comply with these instructions your appointment will be cancelled and rearranged.

PLEASE BE AWARE – A NEGATIVE PATCH TEST DOESN’T GUARANTEE YOU WILL NOT SUFFER AN ALLERGIC REACTION.

Please read the patch test instructions carefully and follow as directed, if you have any reaction or questions please get in touch.

  • Place the pigment sample onto the plaster provided, if the pigment is dry add a drop of water.

  • Place the clear topical anaesthetic onto another plaster provided.

  • Lastly place the cream topical anaesthetic onto the last plaster provided.

  • Position each plaster on one of the following areas;

    • Behind either ear

    • On top of each arm

If you are to experience any of the reactions listed above, immediately remove the plaster and wash the area with cold water and make me aware.

PLEASE NOTE THE COLOUR PROVIDED FOR THE PATCH TEST, ISN’T GUARANTEED TO BE THE COLOUR USED FOR YOUR TREATMENT, ITS FOR PATCH TEST PURPOSES ONLY.

TOPICAL ANAESTHETIC

What is a topical anaesthetic?

  • Topical anaesthetic is a form of anaesthetic which is used to numb the skin.

  • This will be applied to the top of the skin NOT INJECTED.

During the treatment

  • The topical anaesthetic will be placed over your brows before the treatment, and carefully removed prior to your treatment.

  • The effects of topical anaesthetic can vary from individual to individual, I cannot guarantee that your microblading experience will be totally discomfort free or pain free, or that your brows will numb completely prior to your microblading treatment.

Allergic Reactions and Risks

  • Allergic reactions can occur from any topical anaesthetics used during the course of your microblading treatment.

  • If you suffer from an allergic reaction post treatment, you should notify myself as soon as possible and contact your doctor immediately. If your reaction is severe you should go to your nearest accident and emergency hospital department and seek advice.

  • Allergic reactions may display as itching, severe redness, a rash, swelling, dryness, blistering or any symptoms associated with an allergic reaction.

After the treatment

  • As a result of the permanent cosmetics treatment, combined with the use of anaesthetic, you can expect to experience swelling and redness that could last potentially up to 5 days. You should always follow your post-procedure advice.

IMPORTANT DO’S AND DON’TS

  • Please come to the clinic with usual makeup on the day of the treatment.

  • A sensitivity patch test will be undertaken no less than 48 hours prior to the treatment taking place.

  • Do not take ibuprofen, aspirin or coumadin for two days before and two days after the treatment. HOWEVER, DO NOT DISCONTINUE ANY PRESCRIBED MEDICATION BEFORE CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR.

  • Alcohol must not be consumed 24 hours prior to your microblading treatment.

  • Refrain from using sunbeds and natural sun exposure for two weeks prior and post treatment.

  • Refrain from having electrolysis for at least five days prior to the treatment.

  • DO NOT WAX EYEBROWS WITHIN 48 HOURS OF TREATMENT

  • DO NOT TING EYEBROWS 14 DAYS PRIOR TO MICROBLADING TREATMENT

HEALING

Your aftercare procedure will be tailor-made for you by myself (Lucia Edson) after your treatment has taken place.

Surface healing time usually takes up to 10 days to complete post treatment, however each individual will react differently, and timescales will differ.

If you are feeling less than 100% the healing times can take longer than 10 days, and the symptoms of your treatment can appear more prominent.

  • The treated area MUST remain dry whilst healing, I recommend makeup not to be worn and for a gentle face cleaner/clothe to be used.

  • Try and keep hair away from the treated area.

  • No products should be used other than the products I instruct you to use.

  • Do not expose your eyebrows to extreme heat, cold or moisture for 14 days post microblading treatment. This includes sunbeds, direct sunlight, sauna’s, steam rooms, hot tubs, swimming and the use of fake tan.

  • If you donate blood, please be advised you may be unable to do so doe four months post treatment/

  • Avoid hair removal and tinting for 14 days post treatment.
